My last straw with my Rheumatologist was talking to him about how emotions and eating choices play into RA and he just smirked and looked at me like I was a foolish little boy. My side effects FAR outweighed my benefits re. my medication (Arava, Sulfasalazine and Plaquinel) and then he wanted me to start self injecting Embrel! I actually had to lay down in his office as he told me the side effects of self injecting that horrid medicine. Long story short....I slowly got off my meds almost 4 months ago and it's been 2 months since I've been 100% clean. The difference in me is astounding. Now....I'm in detox mode from morning to night and EVERYTHING I do is based on healing methods....but, you know what? I love it!!!!!!! Maybe the average person isn't willing to TOTALLY change everything about their lives....but, to me.....It's beautiful. Just beautiful. The body is so forgiving....It just takes time, patience, love, forgiveness, nourishing foods and detox methods. Again...I said this 7 months ago in my original post.....YOU have inspired me with that visual of you in a wheelchair and then, years later, holding your bike above your head. 7 months ago I would cry just getting out of my chair to walk into another room because of the pain....Today I can lay on my back, lift my legs in the air and then lower them until my toes touch the ground....BEHIND MY HEAD. I could probably do a full on tumble if I wanted to. NO drugs....not even an aspirin....There is hope. Thank you Barbara. And to all others who are reading this.................I repeat: There is hope.

About the Course
I like the careful explanations and visuals that help me get a good idea about each and every aspect of arthritis and how to cure it. It is very carefully thought out and put together so that I can take bites out of all there is to know and learn about getting well.
The course is working so far to help me soak in information in baby steps. It seems to keep me motivated to get well and helps me clarify what it is I am up against and what I need to do to get well. Overall, the course is taking me where I wanted to go, to health! I gave the course an 8 because it is giving me the tools I need to succeed in getting well.

About the Book
I've just read your book and have visited your website and listened to your interviews. Your discoveries are a miracle! A month ago, overnight I developed a severe arthritic reaction/condition. Within 2 weeks I had discovered, ordered and received your book. I read it immediately and implemented as many "secrets" as I was able to. In the last 2 weeks I have gone from being completely unable to walk, to walking pain free, symptom free!
Worth it's weight in gold ... and more.
Outstanding. If you have Rheumatoid Arthritis ...get this book. Practice it and your life will change. Barbara has done an excellent job of combining personal experience, reviewing the scientific literature and inspiring the reader, to produce a life-changing book. She goes through extraordinary lengths to find answers to the disease that once haunted her and comes up a winner. And you can get the benefit of her vast experiences and research for the cost of a book.
As a physician who treats Rheumatoid Arthritis I realized that modern medicine is very limited in what it can do for this disorder. This book will give you options beyond anything you dreamed possible ..and (from second hand experience) it works. I tell my RA patients - even if you do nothing else for now - just read this book!

In Sept 2011 I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. In two months I had gone from a very active, physical athlete to walking with a significant limp. All sports activities came to a halt. I also have four children (under 9) that I was having trouble keeping up with. I was reluctant to get up and walk to the kitchen due to the pain I felt in my ankles and feet.
After scouring the internet, I ran across Barbara's story. I called her and we talked about a program for healing. To my surprise she suggested I go on medication temporarily to prevent long term damage. I try and avoid aspirin much less the toxic medications that are prescribed for arthritis. But the fact that she was not attached to any one approach of healing convinced me that she knew exactly what she was doing. Others I had spoken to were exclusively holistic but my symptoms seemed far beyond a holistic cure at this point.
I told Barbara I would do exactly what she told me and stick to any diet she advised. I took the ALCAT test and we created a 6 month diet that would have me avoiding foods I was sensitive to.
I started Humira injections about the same time as the diet with the plan to wean my self off the medication as the diet healed me.
After 6 weeks the pain was almost entirely gone and I was as active as I had ever been. I was off the medication in roughly 4 months and sticking to the ALCAT diet. After 6 months I had no pain at all and worked my way into a mostly vegan diet with an emphasis on raw foods consisting mostly of vegetables and fruits.
It is now 180 days since I have had a Humira shot and I am 95% pain free. I am due for another ALCAT test as I believe I have developed some food sensitivities recently that are causing some minor twinges but I am fully active and in very good shape.
My Dr. refuses to give the diet any credit but at the same time is impressed with my recovery and his diagnosis that I would be on medication until the day I die.
Without Barbara I would most likely had been relegated to the toxic, expensive medications that were offered. She was very patient and was the lone voice of hope in the early dark days of my diagnosis.
I strongly urge anyone who is struggling with this disease to seek her help.
I am available via email for questions if you have any. Please ask Barbara for my contact info.

I suffer from both RA and Ankylosing Spondylitis. I found out through this program that I cannot eat wheat, milk or dairy products, eggs, sugar or coffee. When I'm good at sticking to it, I'm almost in complete remission. When I cheat, I pay for it. Within 20 minutes of consuming one of the above items, my fingers begin to swell and get stiff, and by the next morning I'm in a lot of pain. I have been able to stop taking the Methatrexate and Lodin which were very hard on the liver and destroyed my immune system. This is a really great program and it works if you have the discipline and self motivation to go through it and stick it out. If you are completely lazy and looking for an easy fix, this may not be for you. It's hard! It has been hard for me to give up coffee, Lucky Charms for breakfast, hot chocolate, cookies and some other comfort foods. But in the end I have a lot of new favorites, my inflammation and pain have disappeared, I've lost weight and my skin looks fabulous to boot. God bless Barbara Allan! She's an angel.

I bought two copies: one for myself and one for my sister. Your testimony and encouragement to be your own detective and take yourself seriously are invaluable! The information you provide is much needed and very hard to get. I am very grateful for your determination to analyze and conduct rigorous experiments with your own reactions to chemicals (including all foods) and your efforts to compile and publish your findings and conclusions. My arthritis and all the other major symptoms are gone with a careful diet now!!! - Your book is a tremendous help! Again, thank you so much for sharing all the time-consuming research you have done!

I've had R A for many, many years. I also tried every so called cure, and believed I ate healthily. But it was only when I read Barbara's book and understood that food sensitivities could play a roll that I hit the jackpot. This coming September will be 2 years that I am totally free of any medication and the pain is almost non-existent, in fact far less than when I was on medication.

What a blessing!!!
I cannot express what a blessing this book is in our lives. My husband's arthritis began at only 22 years of age and it was progressing fast. No one in my family has this disease and I did not know where to turn except a specialist. We saw a specialist for a few years, and I always asked was there nothing more we could do to cure the arthritis? I could not believe that he would have to be on medication for the rest of his life. Since he was in his early twenties, this would mean years and years of constant, daily medication. Of course this would eventually mean problems with other parts of his body due to medication intake. I still did not know where to go to find a cure rather than just an immune suppressant. Then, he came home one day after an appointment with his doctor involving a new set of x-rays. He was now being told that his bones were starting to be eaten away and bones in his left hand had most likely fused together. He was still only 27 at this point! I could not imagine what permanent consequences would come over the next years and I could see him not being able to play with our little boy or do anything with his hands in the future. This pushed me to stop at nothing to find the cure. I knew it had to be out there, but where? After tons of research and reading, I found the cure!!! I cannot begin to express my thanks to the author and her research and her sharing with the world. I just can't understand why the medical community does not know, or if they know, why they don't share the knowledge. My husband is in college and this very night was studying Rheumatoid Arthritis in his anatomy class. They have NO information on how diet and food sensitivities can cause RA and they state they know of no cure or really good medications. It just blows me away that millions of people suffer when the cure is out there, available, and really not difficult. If you or someone you know has RA, please get a hold of this book! I was unsure about the cost, but boy am I glad I tried it out anyhow! We found that corn is his sensitivity, which makes cooking a little more tricky at first, but once we figured out what he can and cannot eat, we are doing great! It took a little effort in the beginning to find the ingredients that will work, and we had to adjust recipes, but he eats totally normal. In fact, we all eat more healthy now. And I don't mean bran and tasteless food. We eat everything we ate before, but now it is fresh and from scratch. He has been off ALL medication for almost 6 months now and we are on our way to complete recovery. His right hand is totally normal now, and we are soon going to try the recommended trigger point method to fix his "fusion". The info here WORKS!!!!!! It takes dedication and a short lifestyle adjustment, but what a blessing everything in this book has been. An answer to many prayers! THANK YOU!!!

Conquering Arthritis is a powerful look at how one woman healed herself from the debilitating effects of arthritis that left her in chronic pain. This is a how to book in the best sense of the term. The author shares the nine secrets she discovered in overcoming her arthritis. The book is packed with helpful lists of foods, recipes, practical advice, a glossary, an index and many reference to other sources and books for further reading and research.
Conquering Arthritis is a take charge, take your own health back, prescription for effective treatment of arthritis. The author is to be congratulated on producing a book that may well find a large and appreciative audience.
Overall, a terrific job.
